Care & Maintenance
Your radio is hand-painted and built solid. Take care of it and it'll last for years while keeping that wasteland look.
Daily Care
Handle with Care
While durable, your radio has a hand-painted finish. Avoid dropping or bumping it against hard surfaces. Always place it on stable, flat surfaces.
Keep Dust-Free
Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe down the exterior weekly. For speaker grilles, use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust buildup.
Avoid Extreme Temperatures
Operate and store your radio in temperatures between 0°C - 40°C (32°F - 104°F). Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight, near heaters, or in freezing conditions.
Power Down When Not in Use
Turn off the radio when not actively using it to preserve battery life. If you won't be using it for more than a week, power it down completely.
Cleaning Guide
⚠ Important: Your radio is NOT water-resistant. Never submerge in water or spray directly with liquids. Moisture damage voids the warranty.
Exterior Body
- ✓Use a soft, slightly damp (not wet) microfiber cloth to gently wipe surfaces
- ✓For stubborn spots, use a tiny amount of isopropyl alcohol (70%) on a cloth
- ✓Wipe gently to avoid scratching the hand-painted finish
- ✓Dry immediately with a clean, dry cloth
Speaker Grille & Vents
- ✓Use compressed air (short bursts) to blow out dust from grilles
- ✓A soft-bristled brush (like a clean paintbrush) works well for stubborn dust
- ✓Never insert sharp objects into speaker openings
Dials & Buttons
- ✓Wipe around dials and buttons with a dry cloth or cotton swab
- ✓If controls feel sticky, use a slightly damp cloth (water only)
- ✓Rotate dials occasionally to keep them smooth
Ports (USB, SD Card, Charging)
- ✓Use compressed air to gently clean port openings
- ✓Never use metal tools or excessive force to clean ports
- ✓Keep ports covered when not in use to prevent dust accumulation
What NOT to Use:
- ✗ Harsh chemicals (bleach, ammonia, acetone)
- ✗ Abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads
- ✗ Excessive water or spray bottles
- ✗ Paper towels (can scratch finish)
- ✗ Furniture polish or wax
Battery Care & Longevity
The built-in 1200mAh lithium-ion battery is designed for years of use. Follow these tips to maximize battery lifespan:
- •Avoid Full Drain: Don't let battery drop to 0% frequently. Recharge when it hits 10-20%.
- •Partial Charges Are Fine: You don't need to charge to 100% every time. Partial charges are healthier for Li-ion batteries.
- •Storage Charge Level: If storing for weeks/months, charge to 50-70% before powering off.
- •Cool Environment: Heat degrades batteries. Avoid leaving in hot cars or direct sunlight.
- •Use Original Cable: Use the included USB-C cable or a quality replacement. Cheap cables can damage the battery.
- •Unplug After Full Charge: While the radio has overcharge protection, unplugging when full is best practice.
- •Monthly Top-Up: If not using regularly, charge it once a month to prevent deep discharge.
Storage Guidelines
Short-Term Storage (Days to Weeks)
• Power off the radio
• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
• Keep away from heat sources (radiators, vents)
• No special preparation needed
Long-Term Storage (Months)
• Charge battery to 50-70%
• Power off completely
• Remove SD card and USB drives
• Store in original packaging if possible, or wrap in soft cloth
• Keep in temperature-controlled environment (15-25°C / 59-77°F)
• Charge once every 2-3 months to maintain battery health
Display Storage
If displaying on a shelf:
• Keep out of direct sunlight to prevent paint fading
• Dust regularly with a soft cloth
• Store away from humid areas (bathrooms, basements)
• Turn on occasionally to keep electronics active
What to Avoid
These actions can damage your radio and may void the warranty:
- ✗Water/Liquid Exposure - Never submerge or spray with liquids
- ✗Opening the Unit - Do not attempt to open or disassemble (voids warranty)
- ✗Extreme Temperatures - Avoid freezing cold or extreme heat (below 0°C / above 40°C)
- ✗High Humidity - Don't use in bathrooms during showers or in very humid environments
- ✗Maximum Volume for Extended Periods - Can stress speaker and drain battery faster
- ✗Unauthorized Chargers - Use only USB-C chargers rated 5V/2A max
- ✗Rough Handling - Dropping, throwing, or rough transport
Preserving the Hand-Painted Finish
Each radio is hand-painted to achieve an authentic weathered, post-apocalyptic look. The finish is durable but requires care:
- •Avoid scrubbing or using abrasive materials on painted surfaces
- •Keep away from oils, solvents, and harsh chemicals
- •Direct sunlight can cause paint to fade over time – display in indirect light
- •Minor scuffs and wear are normal and add to the "wasteland" character
- •If paint chips occur, this is cosmetic only and doesn't affect function
Note: Cosmetic wear from normal use (minor scratches, paint patina) is not covered under warranty. However, paint defects present at delivery are covered – contact us within 7 days of receipt.
